AN OASIS IN TOWN — FORT BRAGG

Putting all his projects in efficient order, the owner of this bungalow hired us to design and build a fish pond, right after a beautiful flagstone garden path, stairs and bbq patio were complete. We used rock from a nearby quarry that was showing dark purple colors to compliment the russets and maroons of the flagstone and the chocolate color of the brick edging. He wanted as big a pond as possible that would still leave room for a small lawn and an ornamental garden surrounding it.

Every aspect of the pond design was to ensure a natural feel to his landscape. A large, half-submerged redwood root and small boulders mimic a log jam, while deflecting the distubance from the waterfall for grand reflections. Rocks of various sizes were trickled out away from the pond’s edges to anchor the landscape and plants to the water feature.

A beautiful foliage garden in the front and side of the house leads the visitor around to the back yard and the surprise of the oasis. The rich dark tones that flow through the entire landscape are a wonderful extension of the craftsman-like interior and complete the feeling of escaping the outside world to your own private getaway.
